Creative Writing Experience

Rolyat had history of writing with graphics going back to working on the playgrounds in the late 60s, where he would do both plays and the artwork for the stage. This eventually led to more creative graphics and the words to go with them also. This collaboration of creativity begins to refine itself when Rolyat worked at CBS and had a chance for over three years to work with some of the finest artists and word smithers for television during the late 60s. Rolyat continued his work into the early 70s on playgrounds supervising children’s plays. He was often generating new and rewriting old scripts, but there was always the creative graphics to make these small stages come alive. Rolyat’s writings started growing in multiple journals with various writing compositions including short stories, prose, poetry, and collections in spiritual and religious content as well as sci-fi, and social exchange.

ROLYAT’S WRITING WALK

ROLYAT’S WRITING WALK
Rolyat Mosi started off when he was still a youngster in his parents’ home in the Watts area of LA, California. He was a voracious letter writer as a kid and wrote many letters “back home” to Louisiana. He had a focus on writing to ‘Mauh,’ a woman he was enthralled with as an infant child before he left Winnsboro, Louisiana.

Rolyat soon started recording his In his diary. This stopped when his sister stole the diary. She would read the stories to her friends, and they would tease him at school. He stopped keeping a diary at that point and moved to a journal with more conscious writings.

This led Rolyat to enrolling in a creative writing class at Jordan High in Watts. The instructor there, Shelba Robinson was good and also ended up being a creative writing instructor years later for Rolyat. She taught at the UC campus he attended, and where he took her class.

It was about this time that Rolyat got really serious about writing on Urban Stories, Church experiences, and deeper Insights as well as economic, political, and social challenges. He was not able to act on these writings for years. It would be decades later after his retirement that Rolyat would refine these writings and create other narratives. Rolyat was welcomed to the ‘New Millennium’ with his creative energy and the time and blessing of mine to write again.
